The sin of one man, caused mankind amiable cord with God to be broken. When Adam ate of the fruit in the Garden of Eden, his disobedience thrusted man into sin. But God, had a plan to bring us back into right fellowship. God gave his son Jesus to die for mankind to redeem us from sin. Redeem means to buy back, repurchase. The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate (Psalm 34:22).
Apostle Mark tells the story on the death of Jesus in Mark 15:34-38 (KJV);
34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias. 36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down. 37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. 38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
It was when the veil of the temple was broken that sin could not longer reign and the amiable cord with God was put back in place.
May we remember the great sacrifice that took place when Jesus was whipped, slapped, beat upon, mocked, scourged so that we could have to eternal life and not an external death!
