Recovery

 

As we go through life we all will go through recovery in some form or fashion. In I Samuel there is story about the Amalekites and King David. While King David and his men were away, the Amalekites invaded the south of Ziklag. The Amalekites took captive the wives, daughters and sons of David and his men.  King David was distressed and prayed unto the Lord. He asked the Lord should he pursue and will they recover all. God responded pursue and you will recover all. King David and his men had to go take back what was stolen and God blessed it.

Recovery is an action. Anything that is taken from you and I that we want back and that God is saying yes go get it. It is going to take some effort. The Bible tells us in Joel 2:25  that God will restore the years that the locust, the cankerworm, the caterpiller, and the palmerworm hath eaten. God is a God of Recovery.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving originally was celebrated for prayer of thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Today, family and friends gather together to give thanks and spend time with each other. Now I can not speak for all, but in my house we are giving thanks to the Lord for all the things that He has done for us. We are thankful for family, friends and for God’s mercy and grace. Oh! Where would we be without the Lord, not far. Thanks be to God, that we are able to stand firm on His Word.

Psalm 134 (KJV)

134 Behold, bless ye the Lord, all ye servants of the Lord, which by night stand in the house of the Lord. ² Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord. ³ The Lord that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.

Father thank you for all that you do for me, my family and friends. Your grace and mercy are immeasurable and the cost is priceless. I love you Lord.

Feed the Inner Man

 

The inner man is always at work. However the inner man is deprived at times. As humans we tend to focus on the material things 1st. Then when difficult times come, there is no Word of God within or there is very little and the storm takes control. The inner man needs to be taken care of 1st.You can speak and give out only what you have taken in.

How do we take care of the inner man? Read the Bible to understand who you are  and as you read a relationship will build with God through Christ Jesus.

The Bible tells us to study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needed not to be ashamed,  rightly dividing the truth. ( II Timothy 2:15).

Strengthening the man by reading and studying the Bible is like the parable in Matthew 7 regarding the person who built a house on a rock . When the wind and rain came the house stood because it had a sure foundation.

The Water that Cleanses

Medicine is used as treatment for a cold. Sometimes a person may be allergic to the medicine prescribed  by the doctor and the doctor will give another prescription. I had an allergic reaction to medicine just prescribed  and my face was itchy, but I did not realize I was having a reaction until I took the second dose. My nose was swollen and my face was itchy. Oh no! Not the face!

The one thing that is so good about the Word of God is  you can not have an allergic reaction to it. The Word is to help us as we walk out our journey in Christ Jesus. The Word is spirit, life and truth. Once you start, you begin to thirst for it. The Holy Spirit will draw you to Christ even the more.

There is a story of the Samartian woman at the well in John chapter 4 in which Jesus had a conversation.Let’s look at verses 4-15.

⁷ There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. ⁸ (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) ⁹ Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. ¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. ¹¹ The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? ¹² Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? ¹³ Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: ¹⁴ But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.  ¹⁵ The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

Jesus told the Samartian woman that whosoever drinketh of the water that I give him shall never thirst, but the water I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Just in the Lord speaking to her she wanted to have the water.

Ephesians 5:26 states  that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.

The Samaration women she was being washed by the Word that Jesus was spreaking to her and she wanted more. Do you want to cleansed?

There is life in Christ Jesus.

Is Your Response Seasoned?

 

There are many times in life that we struggle with how we respond with our speech or our body language regarding how others approach us. If we are in a large crowd we may lash out and yell. If we are in a secluded area, we may speak quietly. If we are in meeting at work, we just may speak our mind with no regards to anyone else.

The Bible tells us to walk in wisdom and let our speech be with grace and seasoned, that we may properly answer. (Colossians 4:5-6) How we respond is important, as we want others to be kind and patience with us. We want others to listen to what we have to say. We are to be quick to listen and slow to answer. (James 1:19) Seek first to understand and be able to discern if we should respond. Somethings our ears to listen, is all that is needed.

Love Like a Child

Love is in ingrained within us. Look at a child, they love unconditionally. Even if they are done wrong, they love. Look at that same child as a teenager, their views and thoughts are  taught by their parents, guardians and peers. Now that love which was so freely given is guarded. They do not freely love. PEOPLE! Hate is taught. Love in ingrained within us. Let us be like a child and love. Freely love. This world needs LOVE!

 Proverbs 10:12 (KJV)  Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!  Loves covers all wrongs!

Things Happen

 

Things are not always as the way we want them to be. As a matter of fact, things happen and we say Why!!!! Why is this happening?

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicle 7:14)

Instead of saying why, we need to seek the Lord and pray. I do not think I need to repeat the rest of verse. Hmmmm!

Thankful for the Struggle

 

This week has been a little tough. I am fighting a cold. One moment I am feeling better, then I got outside and BAM, BAM, it is light the cold is trying to grip me. I still pressed though and worked until my body said oh no, you have to rest. Rest is good. Sometimes we need to take the time out and rest to allow our body to heal. So, I am resting not in myself, but in the Lord. Yes, I physically have to rest, but we are part spirit. My spirit man is resting in the Lord. So Lord, I thank you for rest and peace.

Even though I may not feel 100%, there is always time to reflect and say THANK YOU GOD for allowing me to make it through.

Faith 1.3

Faith is the substance of things hoped for in the evidence of things not seen. But without faith it is impossible to Him,for he who comes to God must believe that He is and He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:1,6)

We are to believe God is able to do bring to us what we are expecting. For believing, we are rewarded. Believing is key.
